Arthi’s father is a dollmaker, but Arthi wishes he would be anything else. No one these days plays with the wooden dolls that her appa makes anyway. But crafting dolls from wood is her appa’s entire world, and Arthi sets out to find out why these dolls mean so much to him. She asks everyone she knows in her small dollmaking community, and Arthi learns that dolls are memories, warm as the sun, stories older than time, colors that run wild, a celebration of life, and more. Oh, much, much more! Arthi sets out to make a doll, and she discovers a special joy in dollmaking that is all her own.
