Shaktis is a collection of inspiring and powerful women of South Asian origin whose stories deserve to be told.
Sarojini Naidu – poet, feminist, activist, and leader – was an incredible force during the Indian Independence Movement. She was in the trenches with other activists, marching and spending time in jail for her anti-Raj rebellion. In 1947, she was named the Governor of the United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh), a post she held till her death in 1949. She is best remembered for her fluid verse that shows us the breadth of her intellect and her deep belief in the power of women.
