Shaktis – Andal – Inspiring South Asian Women in History – Kokeshi Art Doll

$95.00

Shaktis is a collection of inspiring and powerful women of South Asian origin whose stories deserve to be told.

Revolutionary Tamil poetess-saint Andal composed poems during the 7th or 8th century CE that exude pure devotion for Perumal (Vishnu), even in some of her more sensual verses. She challenged tradition by daring to adorn herself with the flower garland meant for the temple deity and chose to reject earthly suitors for the immortal one. She was one fiery woman!

About the artist: Ranjini Sai Subramanian is an artist and doll maker. Her style is characterized by attention to detail and precise brushwork. She is the owner of Deepashree Arts, an online arts and crafts boutique where she sells her creations.
